[origin: DE102014107853A1] The switch (1) has a fire extinguishing agent (45) provided such that a retaining volume (47) for containing the extinguishing agent is reduced by a movement of a sabot (25) of a contact unit (5) and/or by an upsetting process of an upsetting region (23) of the contact unit. The extinguishing agent is injected through a discharge duct (49) for clearing or avoiding an occurrence of an arc between ends of a separation region (27) of the contact unit. The discharge duct connects the retaining volume to a space in which a separation area is located. The contact unit is designed as a constant switching pipe (9).
