[origin: EP3162586A1] A fountain pen and clean refill system includes a fountain pen having a barrel body (12) with a reservoir (14) and an open end. A valve is disposed within the barrel body between the reservoir and the open end, the valve selectively opening and closing the open end. A feed assembly includes a ferrule and a nib support that is slidably coupled to the ferrule. A valve opening mechanism extends from one end of the nib support and the valve opening mechanism pushes the valve towards an open position in response to writing pressure applied to a writing nib that is attached to the nib support. A refill bottle (102) includes a refill tube (116) that extends through an opening (104) in the refill bottle, the refill tube actuating the valve during ink refill operations.
