Die Erfindung betrifft einen Spindelschaft (2) für eine Spinn- oder Zwirnspindel (1), wobei der Spindelschaft (2) zylinderförmig ausgebildet ist und einen ersten Endabschnitt (7) mit einem freien Ende (7a) zum Empfang einer Spinnhülse (13), einen zweiten Endabschnitt zur rotierbar gelagerten Aufnahme in der Spinn- oder Zwirnspindel (1) und einen Aufnahmeabschnitt (8) zur in Längsachsenrichtung verschieblichen Aufnahme der Spinnhülse (13) umfasst. Der Spindelschaft (2) zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass der Aufnahmeabschnitt (8) zwischen dem ersten Endabschnitt (7) und dem zweiten Endabschnitt angeordnet und durch einen quer zu der Längsachse des Spindelschaftes (2) verlaufenden polygonalen Außenquerschnitt mit in Umfangsrichtung kraftübertragenden äußeren Flächenabschnitten (9) ausgebildet ist.
