[origin: WO2016005869A1] A locking assembly (10) for a fire hydrant (12) includes a water outlet cover securable to a water outlet (16) of a fire hydrant (12). The water outlet cover includes a first portion (14A) and a second portion (14B). A locking device includes a locking member (34) engageable with the first and second portions (14A, 14B). The locking member (34) has a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the locking member (34) is disengageable from the first and second portions (14A, 14B) and the first portion (14A) is freely rotatable with respect to the water outlet (16) of the fire hydrant (12). In the unlocked position, the locking member (34) engages the first and second portions (14A, 14B) such that the water outlet cover is removable from the water outlet (16). The locking device may be mechanical, electromechanical and/or operable from a control center distanced from the fire hydrant (12).
