The drive carriage (4) has a frame structure (42) connected to the undercarriage (41), a slide (43) supported by the frame structure (42) and at least one driver (56) which is coupleable to the transport device (31). The slide (43) and the driver (56) are mounted so as to be displaceable in relation to the frame structure (42). In addition, a transport system with such a drive carriage (4) and with at least one transport device (31) for an item to be transported (32) is specified, in which the transport device (31) is supported by at least one supporting carriage (3) and the transport device (31) has a driver (33) which is coupleable to the driver (56) of the drive carriage (4).
