[origin: EP3173239A1] A method of monitoring a jetting unit (12) in a jetting device (10) in which a droplet of a liquid is jetted out onto a receiving medium (20), the method comprising a step of measuring a physical property of the droplet of liquid, characterized in that the physical property is measured at a time and position when and where the droplet settles on a first surface (18) of the receiving medium (20) and forms a dot (16) thereon, the measurement being carried out from a second side of the receiving medium (20) opposite to the side where the dot (16) is formed.
