Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2016015719A2] The invention relates to an electrical switch, in particular for high voltages and/or high currents, comprising a contact unit (4) which comprises at least two contact (3, 5, 7, 7'), a switching element (9) and a drive (11) for the switching element (9). The drive (11) is designed such that it can move the switching element (9) from an initial position into an end position. According to the invention, the switching element (9) is accelerated during an acceleration phase directly or indirectly by the drive (11) and it passes subsequently through a free movement phase until it has reached the end position.
