Abstract (en)

[origin: CA2931952A1] The invention relates to a method for cleaning a jet engine by means of a cleaning medium that contains solids, which are introduced into the engine by means of a carrier gas using at least one nozzle. The pressure of the carrier gas is 1 to 5 bar, preferably 2 to 4 bar. The outlet of the at least one nozzle is arranged at a radial distance from the rotational axis of the engine corresponding to 0.5 to 1.2 times the radius of the upstream-oriented inlet opening of the first compressor stage, and the main outlet direction of the nozzle includes, with the axis of rotation of the engine, an angle of 10 to 30°, preferably 12 to 25°, more preferably 16 to 19°. The invention further relates to a correspondingly configured nozzle unit and to an arrangement consisting of such a nozzle unit, and to an engine.
