[origin: WO2016037821A1] The invention relates to a crimping unit (11) for a crimping tool for crimping workpieces (W, W'), comprising a socket element (12) for securing the crimping unit (11), a support element (13, 23) which is connected to the socket element (12) in a linearly movable manner relative the socket element (12) in a first movement direction (A, A'), a slide element (14, 24) which is connected to the support element (13, 23) in a linearly movable manner relative the support element (13, 23) in a second movement direction (B, B'), wherein the second movement direction (B, B') is oriented substantially perpendicular to the first movement direction (A, A'), and a crimping element (15, 25) which is designed to crimp the workpiece (W, W') and is rigidly connected to the slide element (14, 24). The invention further relates to a crimping tool, to a method for crimping a workpiece (W, W') using a corresponding crimping unit (11), and to a retrofitting method.
