Said system is characterised by a sensor unit (26) which scans in a three-dimensional, contact-free manner a passenger compartment in the region of the door opening (44), and by at least one communication element for a context-based communication with passengers based on the measurement results of the sensor unit (26). The invention also relates to a method for monitoring and controlling said type of door system (20).
