Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2015022667A2] Washpipe joint (1) for an oil drilling plant comprising a fixed sleeve (2) adapted to be connected to a fixed conduit (3) for feeding the drilling fluid, a rotating sleeve (4) adapted to be connected to a rotating conduit (5) integral with a drilling set, and a pair of sealing rings (27, 28) integral with the fixed sleeve (2) and with the rotating sleeve (4), respectively, and cooperating with each other sliding axially under the thrust of elastic means (40) to form the seal between the fixed sleeve (2) and the rotating sleeve (4), characterized in that the sealing rings (27, 28) are arranged externally coaxial to a main conduit (60) defined by respective internal conduits (2a, 4a) coaxial and axially facing each other of the fixed and movable sleeves (2, 4) and are touched by a fraction of the flow rate of the drilling fluid through an auxiliary branch (64) connected in parallel to the main conduit (60); the main conduit (60) is convergent-divergent, and the auxiliary branch communicates with an area of minimum section of the main conduit (60) to facilitate the recall of the fraction of flow rate in the main conduit (60).
