[origin: WO2017054821A1] The invention relates to a hollow needle for an ophthalmic surgical instrument for the in vivo fragmentation of organic lenses by means of ultrasound, comprising a connection region formed at the proximal end for coupling to the instrument and a needle head (2) formed at the distal end and having an effective surface (3) for emitting ultrasonic waves, wherein a suctioning channel (4) for suctioning lens fragments extends through the hollow needle, the opening of which suctioning channel is bounded by the effective surface (3). Said hollow needle is characterized in that the outer face (5) of the needle head (2) has material cut-outs (7) preferably extending in the axial direction and/or has a rough surface at least in some regions.
