[origin: EP3203056A1] An EUC controls an engine and an integrated starter generator such that an engine start-up operation including at least a reverse rotation start-up operation is performed. In the reverse rotation start-up operation, a fuel-air mixture is introduced into a first cylinder while a crankshaft is rotated in a reverse direction, and the crankshaft is driven in a forward direction by combustion of the fuel-air mixture in the first cylinder. A decompression mechanism, in the engine start-up operation, reduces pressure in the first cylinder or another cylinder such that an increase in rotational resistance of the crankshaft caused by an increase in pressure in the first cylinder or the other cylinder is inhibited.
