[origin: WO2016062979A1] The present invention relates to an insect-rearing unit (1) comprising an enclosed space (2) and a control system intended to impose and/or regulate environmental conditions in the enclosed space; the enclosed space (2) comprising an upper compartment (3) intended to contain insects at the adult stage comprising pivoting lock compartments (6); a lower compartment (5) intended to receive insect eggs; and at least one separation element (4) separating said upper (3) and lower (5) compartments and comprising pores and such that said lower (5) and upper (3) compartments are removable and detachable from the space (2) independently of one another; the invention also relates to a combined system for the production of insects, characterized in that it comprises at least three modules isolated from the external atmosphere, arranged in a common space, notably a module comprising at least one insect-rearing unit (1); a module comprising a unit for growing the plants on which the insects feed; and a module comprising a slaughtering unit intended for slaughtering the insects responsibly; and the invention also relates to a method of rearing insects.
