[origin: WO2016062626A1] The invention relates to a device and a method for melt spinning and cooling a group of filaments. The object of the invention is to spin as many filaments as possible in the smallest possible space, and to cool same in a uniform manner regardless. The object of the invention is achieved by means of a hollow cylindrical air cartridge having a porous inner cylinder as well as a porous outer cylinder. In this way, it is possible to guide filaments along and cool same, both inside and outside the air cartridge. This space-saving construction of a spinning and cooling device, in particular in the production of staple fibres, is particularly advantageous, in particular for economic reasons.
