[origin: EP3214706A1] A spark plug includes: a center electrode (20) extending in a direction of an axis (CL); an insulator that has an axial bore and holds the center electrode (20) in the axial bore; a metal shell (50) that is disposed around the insulator in a radial direction and holds the insulator; and a ground electrode (30) that is electrically connected to the metal shell (50) and forms a gap between the ground electrode (30) and the center electrode (20). The metal shell (50) includes a front end tube portion (55) having a through hole (551) extending therethrough from an outer circumferential surface to an inner circumferential surface thereof and through which gas drawn into the combustion chamber passes, and a front edge (TP) of the insulator can be visually confirmed when seen from a first opening (OP1) of the through hole (551) on the outer circumferential surface side toward a second opening (OP2) of the through hole (551) on the inner circumferential surface side.
