[origin: GB2532218A] A synergistic herbicidal composition is provided, the composition comprising a herbicidally effective amount of (A) flufenacet and (B) mesotrione. A method of controlling plant growth at a locus comprises applying to the locus herbicidally effective amounts of both flufenacet and mesotrione. The biological examples show the protection of sugarcane and maize plants from weeds including Setaria spp., Amaranthus spp., Chenopodium spp., Digitaria spp., Echinochloa spp., Lolium spp., Mercurialis spp., Polygonum spp., Solanum spp., Abutilon spp. and Datura spp..
