[origin: WO2016074973A1] The invention relates to an authentication method, an authentication system and authentication devices for authenticating an object provided with an identifier, in particular an RFID tag. In order to inexpensively prevent products from being counterfeited or at least allow a counterfeited product to be identified, the disclosed method for authenticating an object involves the steps of: reading first authentication data from an identification data memory of an identifier, in particular an RFID tag, which is attached to the object, by means of a read-write device designed to read data from the identification data memory and write data into the identification data memory; providing comparative data in a comparative data memory of a comparator; authenticating the identifier by comparing the first authentication data with the comparative data; generating second authentication data and storing said second authentication data as new comparative data in the comparative data memory and as new first authentication data in the identification data memory if the first authentication data match the comparative data.
