[origin: WO2016087076A1] The invention relates to an illumination device (1) for a vehicle, comprising a light source (10) for generating a beam of light (11) and a beam deflection unit (12) for deflecting said beam of light (11), a luminescent layer element (13) being provided which, selectively in its planar extension, can be illuminated with the beam of light (11) by means of said beam deflection unit (12) such that light for projection in front of the vehicle can be generated by illuminating said luminescent layer element (13). According to the invention, a reflector element (14) is provided which is arranged adjacently to the luminescent layer element (13), said reflector element (14) being configured such that the luminescent layer element (13) and the reflector element (14) can be illuminated by the deflected beam of light (11), and the beam of light (11) incident on said reflector element (14) can be deflected onto the luminescent layer element (13).
