[origin: US2016155363A1] Systems, methods, and apparatuses for providing substantially omnidirectional light emission from a tip of a needle for use with injection training systems are provided. The substantially omnidirectional light emission improves the angular range of detection of the emitted light. The approach uses principles of fluorescence and/or light diffusion to emit light in a substantially omnidirectional pattern from the needle tip in order to improve the detectability of the emitted light by a light detector.
