[origin: WO2016102935A1] An assembly comprising: an electric motor (3) such as a switched reluctance motor; an electrical power source (8) for energising the stator coils (9) of the motor; and a control module (1) for controlling the motor. The control module (1) comprises a current sensor (23) arranged to measure the current drawn from the power source (8) when it is energising the coils (9), and a comparator (27) configured to compare the measured current with a threshold current. The control module (1) is arranged to control the current drawn from the power source (8)to energise the coils (9), in response to the comparison between the measured current and the threshold current.
