[origin: WO2016097930A1] The invention relates to a spinning machine (1), in particular a ring spinning machine, comprising at least one group of adjacently arranged spinning stations (2) which are driven by at least one drive element (MA, MB), the controller (C1, C2) of which is connected to a central control unit (ST). To guarantee an optimal operation of both longitudinal sides (A, B) of a spinning machine equipped with a large number of spinning stations (or spindles), it is proposed that, when viewed in the longitudinal direction (LR) of the spinning machine (1), at least one free through passage (DR) is provided between the spinning stations (2) for an operating person and divides the spinning machine (1) into at least two subregions (38, 39), wherein the spinning stations of each subregion are assigned their own drive elements (MA, MB), the controller of which is connected to the central control unit (ST).
