[origin: WO2016096875A1] The subject matter of the invention is a valve device in a motor vehicle comprising: a housing (1); a flow passage (2) arranged in the housing; a flap (8) arranged in the flow passage (2) for closing the flow passage (2), wherein the flap (8) is secured on an axle (3), and the axle (3) is rotatably mounted in the housing (1), and can be driven by an electric motor via a gear unit (5); and a valve seat arranged in the flow passage (2), with which valve seat the flap (8) is in contact in a closing position, wherein the axle (3) penetrates the flap (8) at an angle. The part of the axle (3) located in the flow passage (2) has a smaller diameter than in the area of the bearing (4) on the side of the gear unit.
