[origin: WO2016096195A1] The present invention relates to a camera system (20) for visualizing at least one vehicle surroundings region (35, 45) of vehicle surroundings of a vehicle (10). The camera system (20) has at least one camera (30, 40) attached to the vehicle (10) and a display unit. Here, the at least one camera (30, 40) is embodied in each case to record images of a vehicle surroundings region (35, 45) extending in front of or behind the vehicle (10) and comprising at least one edge region (36, 37, 46, 47), which extends at least partly to the side of the vehicle (10) in each case, and to provide said images to the display unit. Furthermore, the display unit is embodied to display each image currently recorded by the at least one camera (30, 40) as an individual image or as a partial image of an individual image in each case. Furthermore, the display unit is embodied to identify and select each image portion, present in the individual image currently to be shown, which in each case images an object, which is situated in an edge region (36, 37, 46, 47) and, in relative terms, approaches the vehicle (10) from the side, and to display each selected image portion in a magnified manner within the currently displayed individual image.
