[origin: WO2016119994A1] The invention relates to a data carrier (10), in particular a value or security document, comprising a substrate (12) having at least one paper layer, a windowed security thread (14) being embedded in the substrate (12) and being visible on at least one surface of the substrate in determined window areas (16). According to the invention, the windowed areas (16) comprise micro-windows (20) produced during the paper-making process, having an edge (22) produced during the paper-making process and characteristic irregularities, and the width (bM) thereof transversely to the direction of the thread represents less than 50% of the width of the thread (bF) and is between 0.2 mm and 4 mm.
