[origin: WO2016075287A1] The invention relates to the use of an electrolyte for the electrolyte deposition of chromium as metal on an intaglio printing cylinder, comprising (a) a chromium(III)-salt, (b) a compound of formula (I), wherein R represents NH2, OH or SO3H and n is a whole number between 1 - 3, (c) formic acid, and (d) at least one additive. The invention also relates to a method for the deposition of a chromium layer, to an intaglio printing cylinder coated with chromium and obtained according to said method, and to an electrolytic cell for coating intaglio printing cylinders with chromium.
