[origin: WO2016124319A2] The invention relates to an endoscope, e.g. a video endoscope (10), the viewing angle of which extends at an angle to the longitudinal axis thereof. Said endoscope comprises a shaft (13) including an outer tube (12) and a fiber tube (11) in the outer tube; a lens (15) including an image capturing unit (16) is disposed in the shaft (13), in particular in the fiber tube (11). A prism subassembly (14) is used for deflecting the beam path. The endoscope is characterized by a prism subassembly (14) that is arranged eccentrically in relation to the lens (15).
