The present invention belongs to the technological field of structural components of hermetically sealed compressors. Problem to be resolved: Currently, reciprocating compressors comprise protective plates which, welded to the outer side of their hermetically sealed carcasses, have small functional dimensions, which ultimately limit the size of electrical or electronic circuits to be fixed on the said protective plates. Problem Resolution: It is disclosed a reciprocating compressor, whose protective plate is conformed by at least one first plate segment and at least one second plate segment, wherein firstly it occurs the fixation of the first plate segment on the base of the hermetically sealed housing of the reciprocating compressor, subsequently, the lid is fixed on the base in order to form the hermetically sealed housing and, finally, the second plate segment is fixed on the first plate segment.
