[origin: WO2016131619A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a sensor device for detecting an object, having a first and a second environment sensor for sensing an environment of the sensor device, comprising the following steps: sensing an environment of the sensor device by means of the first environment sensor, in order to determine first environmental data based on the sensed environment, the second environment sensor being deactivated; determining whether the first environmental data are sufficient in order to be able to reach a conclusion with a predetermined probability as to whether an object is located in the environment, and if the first environmental data are sufficient, determining on the basis of the first environmental data whether an object is located in the environment; if the first environmental data are not sufficient, activating the deactivated second environment sensor, sensing the environment of the sensor device by means of the second environment sensor, in order to determine second environmental data based on the sensed environment; determining whether an object is located in the environment, based on the second environmental data. The invention further relates to a sensor device. The invention further relates to a computer program.
