[origin: US2017370322A1] An internal combustion engine with at least one cylinder having a cylinder barrel that forms a guide for a piston associated with the cylinder. The cylinder barrel is only partially formed by a cylinder wall of a crankcase or of a cylinder liner fastened to the crankcase. The cylinder barrel, in a central region as seen in the cylinder axial direction, is formed by the cylinder wall. The cylinder wall, in an upper region of the cylinder barrel adjoining the central region and/or in a lower region adjoining the central region, has an encompassing recess into which is inserted a one-piece or multi-piece annular sliding element, the radially inner wall of which forms a part of the cylinder barrel.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Brennkraftmaschine, insbesondere Hubkolben-Brennkraftmaschine, mit wenigstens einem, eine Zylinderlaufbahn aufweisenden Zylinder, wobei die Zylinderlaufbahn eine Führung für einen dem Zylinder zugeordneten Kolben (11) ausbildet. Erfindungsgemäß ist die Zylinderlaufbahn nur teilweise durch eine Zylinderwand (7) eines Kurbelgehäuses (3) oder einer an dem Kurbelgehäuse (3) festgelegten Zylinderlaufbuchse (5) gebildet, wobei die Zylinderlaufbahn an einem, in Zylinder-Axialrichtung (x) gesehen, zentralen Bereich (13) durch die Zylinderwand (7) gebildet ist, wobei die Zylinderwand (7) an einem nach oben an den zentralen Bereich (13) anschließenden oberen Bereich (15) und/oder an einem nach unten an den zentralen Bereich (13) anschließenden unteren Bereich (22) der Zylinderlaufbahn eine, insbesondere in Zylinder-Umfangsrichtung verlaufende, umlaufende Vertiefung (17, 23) aufweist, in die jeweils ein einteiliges oder mehrteiliges ringförmiges Gleitelement (19, 25) eingesetzt ist, dessen radial innere Gleitelementwand (21, 37) einen Teil der Zylinderlaufbahn ausbildet.
