[origin: WO2016135301A1] The present invention relates to a piston (10) for an internal combustion engine, having a piston head (11) and a piston skirt (18), having a circumferential ring belt (15) which is arranged in the piston head (11) and has ring grooves (16a, 16b, 16c) for receiving piston rings, and a cooling duct (17) which runs around in the piston head (11) at the level of the ring belt (15) and has feed openings (23a, 23b) and discharge openings (26, 27) for cooling oil. It is provided according to the invention that a cavity (24a, 24b) for receiving cooling oil is provided at least in the region of a feed opening (23a, 23b) for cooling oil, which cavity (24a, 24b) opens into the cooling duct (17).
