[origin: JP2018002723A] PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing a triacetonamine compound which avoid generation of large amounts of waste boric acid or boric acid derivatives caused by aftertreatment using borohydrides.SOLUTION: The preparation method comprises, under a reductive condition, reacting at least one triacetonamine compound with formaldehyde in the presence of hydrogen and preferably in the presence of an unsupported catalyst selected from among Ag, V, Cr, Mo, Mn, Ni, Pd, Pt, Fe, Ru, Os, Co, Rh, Ir, and Cu.SELECTED DRAWING: None
