The motor vehicle door lock is equipped with a locking mechanism (1, 2, 3, 4) of at least two locking components (1; 2, 3, 4) such as a rotary latch (1) and a locking pawl (2, 3, 4). At least one locking component (2, 3, 4) has at least one metallic base body (2), a sheath (3) made of a plastic having high strength and a flexible damping element (4) as component elements (2, 3, 4). According to the invention, the component elements (2, 3, 4) of the locking component (2, 3, 4) are coupled with one another by a respective detachable plug-in/push connection.
