[origin: CA2980254A1] The invention relates to a catalytically-active composition for the selective methanation of carbon monoxide in reformate streams containing hydrogen and carbon dioxide, said composition containing, as the active component, at least one element selected from the group consisting of ruthenium, rhodium, nickel and cobalt and, as a dopant, rhenium on a carrier material. The claimed catalyst is preferably used to carry out methanation reactions in a temperature range between 100 and 300°C, for use in hydrogen production for fuel cell applications.
