[origin: WO2016150570A1] The invention relates to a crane tower (1), which comprises a crane tower base (2), to which the crane tower (1) or a crane tower element is fastened and from which the crane tower (1) extends upward, and a tension element (3; 4) for bracing the crane tower (1) on the crane tower base (2). The tension element (3; 4) is connected to the crane tower base (2) at one of the two ends of the tension element and to the crane tower (1) or a coupling connected to the crane tower (1) at the other end of the tension element. The crane tower is distinguished in that the tension element (3; 4) extends outside of the crane tower (1). It is thus possible to reduce the dimensions of the crane tower while keeping the bending resistance constant or to increase the bending resistance while keeping the dimensions constant.
