[origin: WO2016150431A1] The aim of the invention is to enable a locking mechanism of an electrically actuated lock to be opened even in the event of a failure of a current supply provided for opening said locking mechanism. As a result, an actuating device for opening the locking mechanism comprises an electric release mechanism which allows a lock to be opened by actuating the actuating device. Said actuating device can, for example, be actuated by an electric switch for opening the locking mechanism. Said switch is opened by applying a voltage and is closed in the event of a failure in the voltage or if the voltage falls below a minimum value. Said switch is built-in or installed such that it is open when there is a current source provided for opening the locking mechanism, subsequently also called the main current source or vehicle current supply. Said switch is also installed in such a manner that in the event of a failure of the main current source, the actuating device is connected to an emergency current source, also known as an emergency current supply, in order to open the locking mechanism with the help of said emergency current supply. The invention also relates to a method for opening a locking mechanism.
