L'invention concerne un mécanisme de chasse d'eau destiné à être monté dans un réservoir d'eau de toilettes, comprenant: - au moins un bouton poussoir (2) mobile entre une position de repos et au moins une position enfoncée, le bouton poussoir (2) comportant des moyens de rappel (5) en position de repos; - des moyens d'obturation (30) mobiles entre une position d'obturation et au moins une position de libération d'un orifice de passage d'eau (31) ; - un mécanisme de transmission (4) entre le ou les boutons poussoirs et les moyens d'obturation; caractérisé en ce que le bouton poussoir (2) est libre en translation par rapport au mécanisme de transmission (4), à partir de la position de repos jusqu'à au moins une position enfoncée prédéterminée de couplage transitoire avec le mécanisme de transmission (4) dans laquelle le bouton poussoir (2) et le mécanisme de transmission (4) sont solidaires en translation, le passage du bouton poussoir (2) d'une position enfoncée prédéterminée de couplage transitoire à la position de repos entraînant le passage des moyens d'obturation (30) de la position d'obturation à une position de libération.
