Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2016166215A1] A tubular mould for the continuous casting of metal strands in billet and ingot format comprises an internal, interchangeable mould tube (1) having a holding device (2), a water guide jacket (3) and a head flange (4) at the pouring-in end and a foot flange (5) at the pouring-out end. The mould tube (1) is connected to the water guide jacket (3) via the head flange (4), the foot flange (5) and the holding device (2) and forms a water gap (11) of identical shape therewith, through which coolant flows counter to the casting direction (G) during casting operation. The mould tube (1) can be introduced into the water guide jacket (3) and removed therefrom in one piece and is connected at its outer surface to the water guide jacket (3) via tension screws (23) and pressure screws (22), with the result that the water guide jacket (3) acts as a mechanical support for the mould tube (1). The water guide jacket (3) is additionally produced from one piece of non-magnetic material, thereby allowing the use of electromagnetic stirring coils.
