Abstract (en)
An apparatus for providing speaker protection, comprising: a gain unit for scaling an audio signal to be coupled to a speaker; a speaker model for estimating the temperature behaviour of the speaker due to the scaled audio signal; a controller for controlling the gain of said gain unit based on the estimated temperature behaviour to avoid overheating of the speaker; wherein the speaker model is characterized by a plurality of speaker parameters including thermal time constant.
