[origin: WO2016180933A1] The invention relates to a retaining device 1 for a shelf base 2 on a shelf wall 3, comprising a first connection element 4 to be arranged on the shelf wall 3 and comprising a second connection element 5 to be arranged in the shelf base 2. At least one of the connection elements 4, 5 has a magnet 14 which attracts the respective other connection element 5, 4 in order to magnetically move a retaining element 7 of the first connection element 4 from a retracted position into an extended retaining position for holding the shelf base 2 on the shelf wall 3 along a pull-out direction X. In order to allow a simple and quick removal of the shelf base from the shelf wall and in order to additionally position the shelf base in a secured manner and provide an aesthetically pleasing shelf wall, the first connection element 4 comprises a housing 9 and a spring element 8 which is arranged in the housing 9, wherein the spring element holds the retaining element 7 in the housing 9 in the retracted position and is supported on a retaining element 7 region with an enlarged cross-section 12 and on a housing 9 region with a reduced cross-section 10.
