[origin: WO2016188958A1] The invention relates to a method of identifying an item of equipment carrying out a consumption of a fluid, the consumption being characterized by a unitary consumption segment called a lineament comprising a list of contextual and morphological parameters. According to the invention the method comprises: - a plurality of steps of obtaining (10) data representative of a morphological score (SM) of said lineament (LIN) as a function of at least one value of at least one morphological descriptor (D) of the lineament (LIN) and of at least one category of equipment (CE), delivering a list comprising at least one morphological score (LSM); - a plurality of steps of obtaining (20) data representative of a contextual score (SC) of said lineament (LIN) as a function of at least one value of a contextual descriptor (C) of the lineament (LIN) and of a mean quantity of fluid consumed (QFMC) over at least one time period, delivering a list comprising at least one contextual score (LSC); - a step of identifying (30) an equipment category (C) and/or an item of equipment giving rise to said lineament (LIN) as a function of the scores of said list of morphological scores (LSM) and of said list of contextual scores (LSC).
