[origin: US2018087213A1] Items of laundry are fed to mangles by insertion machines, which have a spreading device with moveable spreading clips which spread out and center a front transverse edge of the item of laundry upstream of a feed conveyor. A plurality of loading stations are located upstream of the spreading device. The spreading clips retrieve an item of laundry from the loading stations, which, in the case of outer loading stations, requires long movement distances of the spreading clips, which reduces the cycle time of the insertion machine. The invention makes provision to transfer items of laundry from outer loading stations to transfer clips which move the items of laundry from the outer loading stations into the vicinity of the center of the feed conveyor, then transfer the item of laundry to the spreading clips in the center of the feed conveyor, thus reducing the travel distances of the spreading clips.

Das Zuführen von Wäschestücken zu zum Beispiel Mangeln erfolgt mit Eingabemaschinen. Diese verfügen über eine Spreizeinrichtung (12) mit verfahrbaren Spreizklammern (14), die einen vorderen Querrand des Wäschestücks vor einem Zuführförderer (17) ausbreiten und mittig zentrieren. Vor der Spreizeinrichtung (12) befinden sich üblicherweise mehrere Beladestationen (11). Bisher holen die Spreizklammern (14) das jeweilige Wäschestück von den Beladestationen (11) ab. Das erfordert bei außenliegenden Beladestationen (11) lange Verfahrwege der Spreizklammern (14), was die Taktzeit der Eingabemaschine reduziert. Die Erfindung sieht es vor, Wäschestücke von außenliegenden Beladestationen (11) an Transferklammern (21) zu übergeben, die die Wäschestücke von den außenliegenden Beladestationen (11) in die Nähe der Mitte des Zuführförderers (17) fahren, um das jeweilige Wäschestück danach der Mitte des Zuführförderers (17) an die Spreizklammern (14) zu übergeben. Das reduziert die Verfahrwege der Spreizklammern (14).
