[origin: WO2016193571A1] The invention relates to a cooking appliance (1) with a frame (4) supporting two cooking plates, respectively referred to as upper (2) and lower (3) plates, for cooking food, by sandwiching between said plates (2, 3). The frame (4) includes at least one generally U-shaped portion with the core (5) of the U of the frame (4) arranging with the lower cooking plate (3) a free space (6) inside of which means (20) for heating said plate (3) by a flame can be arranged, and the upper cooking plate (2) is mounted slidingly movable relative to the lower cooking plate (3) and is provided, along each of the side edges thereof facing an open surface of the U of the frame (4), with a raised edge (7) arranged opposite a so-called longitudinal edge (8) of the lower cooking plate (3) in the close position of said plates (2, 3).
