[origin: WO2016202493A1] The invention relates to a method for cleaning containers (13), such as glass or PET bottles. The containers are treated with a directed jet (9), and the directed jet (9) comprises water which is supplied with air bubbles. Ultrasonic waves are generated in the water supplied with the air bubbles, said ultrasonic waves propagating in the directed jet (9). The invention further relates to a cleaning device (1) for containers (13) for carrying out the method, wherein the cleaning device (1) comprises a chamber (2) with an air supply (3), a water supply (4), and an outlet nozzle (7), and an ultrasonic source (8) is provided in the outlet nozzle (7).
