Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2016203095A1] The method for operating a multi-cylinder piston engine (1) comprises the steps of operating a first group of cylinders (2) in an active state, in which state a first amount of a main fuel is injected into each cylinder (2) during each cycle of the engine (1), simultaneously operating a second group of cylinders (2) in a deactivated state, in which state at least the injection of the main fuel into the cylinders (2) is deactivated, and activating the fuel injection of the main fuel into the cylinders (2) of the second group. When the fuel injection of the main fuel into the cylinders (2) of the second group is activated, during the first cycle of the engine (1) a second amount of the main fuel is injected into each cylinder (2) of the second group, the second amount being greater than the first amount.
