Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2017007458A1] The present invention, in some embodiments, is a method of forming an O temper or T temper product that includes obtaining a coil of a non-ferrous alloy strip as feedstock; uncoiling the coil of the feedstock; heating the feedstock to a temperature between a recrystallization temperature of the non-ferrous alloy and 10 degrees Fahrenheit below a solidus temperature of the non-ferrous alloy; and quenching the feedstock to form a heat-treated product having am O temper or T temper. The non-ferrous alloy strip used in the method excludes aluminum alloys having 0.4 weight percent silicon, less than 0.2 weight percent iron, 0.35 to 0.40 weight percent copper, 0.9 weight percent manganese, and 1 weight percent magnesium.
