[origin: WO2017005783A1] The description and presentation relate to a computer-implemented method for processing data object variants of at least one software tool for developing mechatronic systems, wherein the data object variants correspond particularly to at least portions of hardware variants and/or software variants of the mechatronic systems and have at least one common feature type and a respective embodiment of the feature type. During the processing of a data object variant, it is possible to react to changing embodiments of feature types of different data object variants and hence changing correspondence groups by detecting, for at least one feature type, corresponding embodiments of this feature type in different data object variants and storing information relating to correspondence groups of data object variants with the corresponding embodiments of the feature type for the feature type.
