[origin: WO2017042150A1] The invention relates to a fiber-optic accelerometer (10) comprising: - an optical fiber (11) having a free end, said free end being caused to oscillate under the influence of accelerations, and said oscillations being detected as a measure for the accelerations, - a light source for emitting visible, ultraviolet or infrared light into the optical fiber (11) at an end of the fiber (11) opposite the free end; - a mirror (14), which is arranged to reflect part of the light exiting the free end back into the optical fiber (11); and - a detection device for capturing reflected light at the end of the fiber (11) opposite the free end, the optical fiber (11) being a double clad fiber.
