Method for operating a laundry washing machine (1) for treating laundry with a washing liquid, and corresponding washing machine (1), comprising a casing (2) in which a rotatable drum for acceptance of laundry is arranged, further comprising a fresh water supply (5), further comprising a tub (3) in which said drum is arranged, further comprising a heater (10) for heating washing liquid, further comprising a detergent storage container (6) with at least one compartment (6f, 6g, 6h) for collecting a laundry treatment agent, whereby a laundry treatment procedure is performed in which at least one washing phase, at least one rinsing phase, and at least one spinning phase are performed, whereby said heater (10) is always switched off during said washing, rinsing and spinning phases.
