The piston shaft (2) has supporting shaft wall portions (5) and box walls (14) which are set back and connect the shaft wall portions (5) together and which progress in a curved manner and have a pin bore (7). An undercut open space (21) is provided in the region of the piston base (3) below the annular field (4) in the region of the pin bore (7). The piston (1) has a pressure side (12) and a counter pressure side (13), and the piston (1) has a spacing (27) between the box walls (14) of 35% to 51% of the piston diameter (20) on the pressure side (12) and/or the piston (1) has a spacing (28) between the box walls (14) of 26% to 39% of the piston diameter (20) on the counter pressure side (13).
